Socially Distanced Sailing at Salterns following new, strict rules.
Following the recent government announcements, the Management Committee is delighted to announce that, from Tuesday 19th May, Salterns Sailing Club will be open again, but on a restricted basis – Members only and for free sailing only.
Members may only use the club at the times they have booked, following the rules and process below. The club is out of bounds at all other times.
It will be important for every member using the club to observe social distancing and to follow the revised rules, which are set out in more detail here. Please read these – everyone using the club should comply with the revised arrangements.
To use the club, you will need to book a two hour slot. A sign-up sheet is now live on Sunday 17th May, and each Sunday thereafter. This gives each family a fair chance to sail in one, two-hour sailing session per week. The sign up sheet will have spaces for two families to sign up in each two hour slot – “Family 1” and “Family 2”. Each family is to use only the slipway, toilet and row boats marked with their number.
The toilets are for use only when absolutely necessary, and not for changing.
Members will be given details on how to access available boats. Please do not share this information.
The JC have made a new member induction video to welcome and advise all new members. New Members are very welcome to sign up to free sailing sessions. Ideally we would have introduced you to the club and families in person, but we hope this solution is will get you on the water until the lockdown is further relaxed. If you have any questions, please ask.
Stay alert, stay safe
Please all stay alert and stay safe. We must be alert to the virus, and respect other members and our local community, but please don’t forget all the usual water safety rules too – wear a lifejacket and make sure all children are supervised by parents ready to enter to water to assist if needed.
