Salterns Sailathon for Children in Need

Friday 15th to Saturday 16th November 2019

This is the 21st year that the children of Salterns Sailing Club will be raising funds for the BBC Children in Need appeal. And this year the Junior Committee have been as busy as ever, planning lots of exciting things for our young sailors to do during the 24 hours – read on to find out more!

Sponsorship and Registration

Every sailor participating in the 24 hour Sailathon will bring along their sponsorship form, along with the money they have raised from family, neighbours and friends. The family raising the highest amount will win a prize! Download Sponsorship Form here.

All sailors hoping to take part in the 24 hour Sailathon must register on WebCollect for the times they would like to sail. A child medical form must be completed in this process. Members can register on WebCollect here.

Silent Auction and Tombola

The JC and helpers have been busy pulling together a fantastic Silent Auction – available for your bids throughout the 24 hour Sailathon. There will be clipboards up in the clubhouse for each lot so take a look and place your bids when you are there. There will also be a Tombola with plenty of prizes to win on the day.

We’re still collecting prizes and lots! If you are able to donate a prize for the Tombola please contact salternscomms@gmail.com and if for any Silent Auction Lots please contact friendtiffany@yahoo.co.uk.

Friday 15th November 2019

The 24 hour Sailathon will start at 4.30pm with Pudsey’s big countdown. We’re organising floodlights since sunset will be at 16:10. Please see timings plan for details of each sailing session and the pennants applicable. There must be a minimum of 2 boats sailing on Eight Acre Pond at all times during the 24 hour period.

Parents must watch their children and are responsible for the safety of their child(ren) at all times, on and off the water. Children must be suitably dressed for sailing in the conditions, including buoyancy aid.

There are a number of opportunities for parents to help – on and off the water. Please sign up here.
